Stanford, Apple Park, Alcatraz, and the divide
May 24, 2026 · Day 79
Day two. More Google I/O building during the day. In between, I visited Stanford, Apple Park, and Alcatraz.
Stanford hit hardest emotionally. It felt familiar in a way I cannot explain — like my brain had already built a version of myself existing there before I ever arrived. Not envy. Obsession mixed with belonging.
Apple Park affected me differently. Standing there forced me to realize I could actually build something large enough to exist physically one day too.
The night walk through downtown showed the other side. The contrast between AI startup billboards and fentanyl devastation blocks apart is something the internet version of SF never communicates honestly. The city feels simultaneously inspiring and broken.
